Abstract:
An isothermal fixed bed reactor was used to conduct the experiments. Due to low flow rate of reactant and inert gas laminar flow regime was assumed in the reactor. Random packing of solid cylindrical catalyst pellets were used in the reactor. The effect of residence time in the reactor on conversion in dehydrogenation of diethylbenzene (DEB) into DVB is investigated. The activities of different isomers of DEB for dehydrogenation reaction were investigated and discussed. Effect of flow rate of inert gas which changes the residence time of reactants in the reactor on the production rate was investigated. Tests were conducted at 10, 20, 30, and 40 gr catalyst weight. The liquid products were analyzed by GC-mass. There is not a linear relationship between amount of catalyst and conversion. Effective volume of the reactor affects the conversion significantly
