Abstract:

A novel tray bioreactor was constructed for production of protease using the fungal strainAsperillus Oryzae PTCC 5164. In the new bioreactor, the medium was trickled on the trayswhich contained mixture of agro-industrial wastes as substrate and washed the produced proteasefor further enzyme production. Alkaline protease production was compared in conventional solidstate fermentation and tray trickle-bed bioreactor under desired conditions. In both of themethods the maximum activity was achieved on the third day (72 h).Protease produced in thetrickle process was much more than the conventional solid state fermentation; which resultedenzyme activity of 1009 (U/gds) and 670 (U/gds), respectively.
