Abstract:

Tourism attractions are considered the primary cause for tourists visiting an area but the thorough understanding of the attractions' value and the proper behavior that tourists face, are the secondary reasons for the next visits done by the same tourists or those who have been told about that special attraction. This understanding is achieved through the proper transference of that area's historical, cultural and social background. In international tourism, these concepts get more importance since the visitor faces a totally new language and culture; the issue of language and culture barriers is so effective in tourism development and that is where the concept of translation should be brought in. Since discourse of tourism is a special type of cross-cultural communication and a successful communication is led to the development of cultural tourism of a specific area and the increase in the number of tourists translation can be of so much help for this purpose. Translation in the tourism Context has not been given much attention in both tourism and translation industries, in spite of the important role of translation as a mediator between the local and foreign cultures. This paper attempts to emphasize the role of translation in tourism context, mostly in cultural tourism which is growing dramatically in international scale.
