Abstract:
The renewable energy resources, and particularly wind power, are of great interest. The wind turbines are considered as an important segment of smart grids for green power generation. To monitor the status of the power system in Offshore Wind Farms (OWFs), there are massive amount of data, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data, needed to be transmitted from turbines to the control center and vice versa. This paper proposes a mathematical framework to comprehend the time delay in delivering the SCADA data to the control center. In addition, a trade-off between the energy spent in data transmission with the maximum delay is presented. This study provides guidelines on the design of optimum information network in the transmission grid for SCADA data delivering
