Abstract:
Spatial analysis is the study of distributions over the earth surface to discover the dominant spatial rules and orders. In order to analyze the spatial organization of the annual precipitation over Iran, the annual rainfall data of 179 weather stations from their established year to 2008 were averaged and plotted over the map. These data were interpolated using spherical Semivariogram and simple kriging method. After evaluating the errors of cross validation process, a final interpolated map was developed. This map was analyzed by global Moran index to identify the regions (hot spots) of high and low precipitation regions. The results showed a clustered pattern of precipitation over Iran. The highest rainfall spots were located over the northern, western, and southwestern parts of the country. But the low rainfall regions were observed on the eastern and southeastern parts of the country.
