Abstract:
Soil organic material directly affects soil quality by influencing aeration and water retention and serving as a major repository and reserve source of plant nutrients. Limited information isavailable concerning the long-term SOC changes in turfgrass systems. The CENTURY simulation model offers an opportunity to predict long-term SOC trends based on mathematical representations of C-cycling prosoilcesses in the soil–plant systems. The objectives of this studywere to evaluate the ability and effectiveness of the CENTURY model to simulate the long-term SOC dynamics in highly managed meadow ecosystems and simulate long-term SOC changes for meadows with the CENTURY model. The accumulation of organic carbon in soil organic carbonwas observed compared with the regression coefficient indicates 0.84 properly. The results show that the model can be used to simulate changes CENTURY soil organic carbon in meadows ecosystems and the potential conditions for carbon sequestration under different management
