Abstract:
Once a disaster occurs, an electric power can play a very important role in the disaster prevention activities. In this paper the seismic fragility analysis of low voltage underground power cables including 20kV and 400V buried cables is studied. The formulation for fragility calculation for these elements in the power network has been presented and based on numerical analysis and existing experimental data the fragility curves for low voltage cables have been extracted. The curves have been presented for various load conditions that may occur during earthquake. These conditions including wave propagation, landslide . liquefaction, fault crossing and building crossing. The presented methodology defines the failure modes and cases that are possible in seismic condition . the methodology can be used as a basis for earthquake hazard assessment of low voltage hurries power cables that are uses in urban areas.
