Abstract:

Classification is one of the most important processes in mineral processing. An important factor in both comminution and sizing operations is the determination of the particle size distribution of the materials being processed, commonly referred to as particle size analysis. Many techniques for analyzing particle size are used. In this paper we have prepared some different minerals and compared their particle size distribution by using ASTM sieving series, cyclosizer and laser particle size analyzer. From the results it has been found that the particle size distribution curves in both weight and volume methods have nearly same trend but the volume type shows the larger particles and some parameters, especially particle shape, density and uniformity have effect on the similarity of the distribution curves.
