Abstract:

Today, many organizations make use of information systems, especially management information system at different organizational levels. Considering the strategic importance of information in insurance industry, strategic planning of information systems is of high importance in insurance. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effects of strategic management components in updating information systems of insurance. In order to gather the required data, a researcher-madequestionnaire is distributed among 100 mangers of insurance industry in Iran and the obtained data are analyzed through SPSS software. As the research findings reveal, thereis significant positive relation between the components of strategic management (such as field knowledge identification, perspective and mission specification, knowledge gap measurement) and updating information system of insurance and in fact, strategic planning of information systems help managers identify the required informationsystems and specify the priority of their creation and expansion.
