Economic Feasibility Study on Green Roofs and PV-roofs

Green roofs are a new roofing technology whichprovide a healthier environment with financial benefitsand also PV-roofs can produce electricity which canreduce energy costs. In this paper, green roofs and PVroofsare compared and three different climates Hot andHumid, Dry and Humid and Humid Subtropical areconsidered. The energy savings and payback period ofboth roofs are calculated. Bandar-Abbas, Yazd andRasht are concerned as locations having Hot andHumid, Dry and Humid and Marine climates. Thisstudy has found that PV-roofs save more energy thangreen roofs and has the shortest payback period in thosethree climates. PV-roofs located in Bandar-Abbas andYazd can save more energy due to sun hours and Rashthas the best climate for installing green roofs
