The Sociolinguistic Study of the Regional Variation

The study of relationship between language and society, Sociolinguistics is a branch of both linguistics and Sociology in relation to Social factors including differences of regional class and occupational dialect, gender differences and bilingualism. Understanding the structure of sociolinguistic variation requires understanding what information it conveys to listeners. Variation not only correlates with Social structure but also carries social meaning influencing listener perceptions and through them social structures. Geographical origin determines Varity in language use. There is a certain fascination in thinking that speech in particular reveals to a certain extent the place we come from. The purpose of this research is to investigate the regional variation from sociolinguistic points of view. A great deal of research has been carried out throughout the world to study the intersection of language and social factors in Iran. This research is a descriptive qualitative study in nature. The finding of this research can be shed lights on the nature of linguistics and sociolinguistics.
