Abstract:

The aim of this study was investigating the effect of teaching English through authentic movies on the improvement of seventh graders speaking ability as speakers of English as a foreignlanguage. A pretest, post-test control and experimental design was employed in this observational study. Two seventh grade classes were regarded for this study. A language proficiency interview was conducted in both classes and based on it, 25 homogeneous studentswere selected from among 51. The students were then divided into two groups: control group, including 13 students, and the experimental group including 12. An independent sample t-test was used for comparing the results of the two groups. Post-test results based on t-test showedthat the experimental group outperformed the control group significantly
