Applied linguistics

Applied linguistics is a field of study that identifies,investigates and offers solutions to language related problems.it describes the language and teaches how it is learned and used.It suggests that its concern is with the use of findings from theoretical studies of language for the solution of problems of one sort or another arising in a different domain.The historical section of this article provides an account of how this state of affairs came about and how the field developed as an area of study.Applied linguistics can be applied to all aspects of language use.It deals with mother tongue,foreign and second language aquisition.it examined the relationship between language areas as law,communication,media,social and educational psychology and education in general.The close association of applied linguistics with language teaching is based on the belief that such findings must necessarily be relevant to the practical teaching of languages.it seems to be self evident that since linguists study language and teachers teach it there must be a relevant connection
