Abstract:

Sociolinguistics is one of the chief categories of language that is crucial and as a matter of fact it is the study of the effect of society including culture, norms, values, social class, education, level, age and etc on the way that language is used. This research aims to investigate words and culture from the sociolinguistic point of view. As sociolinguistics is mostly neglected in Iran, it is intended here to do a descriptive research on different aspects of cultures and English language. As a matter of fact, the interaction with other culture enhances the language with different variations such as euphemism, taboo, color, taxonomies and so on. It is important to understand the culture we teach in order to convey the appropriate meaning based on the cultural relevance. The findings of this research are going to be used for better language teaching and provide necessary information for the foreign language teachers and learners to create a good correlation with the target language and its culture.
