POLITICAL REVIEW OF MINORITY'S STATUS IN THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN (THREATS AND OPPORTUNITIES)

Iran is an ethnically various country. It has different ethnic groups which are distinguished by their distinctive languages, religions and races. The existence of five different ethnic groups in the regions bordering the nations of the same race provides the ground for ethnic crises in borders of Iran. The fact that Iranian ethnic groups including Turk, Kurd, Baluch, Turkmen and Arab have their own official languages and local radios and TVs and participate in government and local elections indicates that they have acquired a good level of ethnic self-consciousness, which calls for adoption of appropriate ethnic policies by the central government. By adopting efficient policies in this regard, central government can persuade different ethnic groups toward national cooperation and thereby enhance their national identity.Growing insecurity and discrimination occasionally shown by the past politics dealing with the problems of minorities especially, among all other above-mentioned shortcomings, has strengthened pessimism among the Known minority and prepared background appropriate to territorial and trans-territorial interferences of dominant politics under various pretexts. Obviously, fair and diverse solutions do exist to avoid falling in the abyss of racial tensions by local officials and trustees and politic support through codified planning of concurrent development within the framework of comprehensive national development plan that can contribute to the broader participation of specific tribe and making grounds for promoting convergence and national and territorial authority
