A Novel Fault Classification Scheme in Transmission System Using Discrete Wavelet Transform

This paper presents a new algorithm for fault classification in transmission lines using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). The proposed algorithm uses detailcoefficients of three phase currents as well as their combination as criterion to classify faults and identification of faulted phases.In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm a ٤٠٠ kVtransmission system which is a part of Iran transmission system is simulated using EMTP-RV and the voltage and current signalsare analyzed in MATLAB software. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm is very reliable and accurate
