Abstract:

Fossil fuel depletion, global warming and climate change are driving scientists to investigate the ways to reduce CO2 . The process of CO2 converts to hydrocarbons has been considered as a possible remedy to fulfill therequirements. In this study we introduced two new kinds of catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation. Calcined iron-basedcatalysts were reduced by H2 and reactions (H2/CO2=3, total pressure=10 MPa, temperature=523 K) over different promoter metals (M=Ni, Cu) was studied. It was found that Cu and Ni had a better promotional effect to increase conversion of CO2 than previous promoters for the iron-based catalyst. When Fe-Ni/ ϒ -Al2O3 was used as a catalyst, CO2 conversion was 66.13% and for Fe-Cu/ ϒ -Al2O3, CO2 conversion was 63.17%, but the stability ofcatalyst promoted by nickel was more than copper during the reactions time. The product selectivities for catalystswith copper and nickel were also compared. Fe-Ni/ϒ-Al2O3 and Fe-Cu/ ϒ -Al2O3 exhibited higher light hydrocarbons in their HC distributions than methane.
