Abstract:
Oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) is a promising route for the production of ethylene by oxidation of methane, the main constituent of natural gas. Na2WO4-Mn/SiO2 is one of the most effective catalysts for OCM and has been widely used in most recent researches. In this work, oxidative coupling of methane over (x= 2-5-10 wt %) K2WO4-(2wt %)Mn/SiO2 catalysts has been studied and optimized combination for K-W-Mn/SiO2 catalyst has been achieved. Catalysts were prepared by sequential impregnation method. The structural properties of the prepared catalysts were determined using XRD and FT-IR. Activity testing was carried out in a quartz fixed-bed micro reactor at total flow rate of 80 ml/min and 0.3g loaded catalyst. Efficiency of catalysts was studied at 850oC and CH4/O2 ratio was maintained in the range of f 2-7. It appeared that (5wt %)K2WO4-(2wt %)Mn/SiO2 catalyst leads to the best results. The maximum yield ofC2+ of this catalyst was19.05% which shows 6% yield improvement comparing to 2wt%)K2WO4-(2wt%)Mn/SiO2 catalyst.
