In the present study the effect of Ba2+ cation on the γ-Al2O3 to α-Al2O3 phase transition and sintering have been considered by differential thermal analysis and Scanning electron microscopy. For this purpose first γ-Al2O3 was synthesized from pseoudo boehmite and then Ba2+ was added by impregnation using barium nitrate solution, to γ-Al2O3 surface and γ-Al2O3 modified with 0.1, 1, 3, 5, 10 wt% of baria to find the optimum Ba2+ content for preventing γ-Al2O3 from phase transition and sintering.
