Abstract:
Water-soluble cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanocrystal quantum dots were synthesized by aqueous-phase arrested precipitation in the presence of thiolate capping ligands. Several factors affect the absorbance and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, including reactant concentration, Cd:S mole ratios, reactant to ligand mole ratios and pH. In this study, the interactions between CdS nanoparticles and aniline were determinedby using molecular absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy techniques. Fluorescence studies demonstrated that the fluorescence intensity of CdS nanoparticles was decreased with increasing the amount of aniline in solution. The results of the quenching experiment were analysed in the light of Stern Volmer equation. Under the optimum conditions, the response is linearly proportional to the concentration of aniline.
