Real Time Face Detection Using Artificial Neural Networks

On the one hand, face detection and recognition is an active interdisciplinary area of research that uses techniques from computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition. On the other hand,neural networks have been widely used to address problems in feature extraction, pattern recognition, and in general, the same kind of problems. Our proposal here is to use neural networks in the development of a face detection system capable of operating in real time. The system performs aguided face search on interest regions exhibiting human skin color properties. These properties are detected in a pixel by pixel basis.
