Abstract:
Seismic correct operation requires that available strength and deformation capacity of structural members must greater than the requirements imposed by earthquakes. According to the behavior of structures during earthquakes, structural performance evaluation should be done by non-linear analysis. Entering the structure to non-linear behavior under earthquake, displacements have been better described than in the forces of structural response and by limiting the displacements instead of forces, level of structure damage can be controlled effectively. Due to the growing advances in earthquake engineering knowledge and the successive need to revise in the regulations codified, the philosophy codified and prepared regulations is important for graduates in this field. Despite its importance, in this article we review some clauses of the Code of Practice for Seismic Resistant Design of Buildings (Standard No.2800 Iran) with fourth edition and provide the basic concepts and philosophy of codification and preparation of these clauses compared with the third edition. In this paper, appraisement steel moment frames 3 floors, 6 floors and 10floors will consider with intermediate ductility and non-linear static structural analysis (pushover) was performed with SAP software.
