Abstract:
In deflection of beams there are two theory i.e. Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam. Theory of Euler-Bernoulli beam is based on the assumption that plane cross sections remain plane and perpendicular to thelongitudinal axis after bending. Assumption of normality to the longitudinal axis was removed in Timoshenko beamtheory, so transverse shear strain is not zero. In this paper tranverse vibration of Timoshenko beam to high frequencydynamic loads has been studied. Two methods i.e. spectral finite element and conventional finite element methodswere used to modelling and analysis of beam structure, and results obtained from two methods were comparedtogether. Results from two methods shows higher precision and less computing time of spectral finite elementmethod to conventional method. Whatever frequency of load was higher, the advantage of the spectral finite elementmethod further appeared.
