Abstract:

In this research, a statistical and mathematical technique, the response surface methodology, was applied to evaluate the effect of main operational parameters including inlet flow rate, current density and initial dye concentration for the removal of Acid Brown 14 by continuous electrocoagulation process. The parameters were changed at five levels according to the central composite design (CCD) to evaluate their effects on decolorization efficiency through analysis of variance (ANOVA). High R2 and adjusted R2 values of 98.9 %, 98 % for removal efficiency showed a high correlation between the experimental and predicted values that expresses the second order polynomial regression model is acceptable. Optimum dye removal efficiency of 90.9% was observed experimentally at inlet flow rate of 240 ml/min, current density of 95 A/m2 and initial dye concentration of 350 mg/L, which is close to the model predicted result (90%
