Abstract:
In this study, 2D Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method is introduced to investigate an electromagneticscattering of the infinite multilayer random rough surfacecovered by fresh snow. To start, two 1D infinite random roughsurface with Gaussian spectrum are simulated by Mont CarloMethod and used as interfaces of two soil layers. In continue, atapered and modulated Gaussian pulse wave is injected througha 1D Total Field/Scatter Field (TF/SF). To validate the proposedscheme, Radar Cross Section (RCS) of the structure is calculatedby Near to Far Transformation (NTFT) and compared with themethod of moment (MOM). It’s assumed that the simulationmedia is lossy homogenous one. For further investigation, thereal model of fresh homogenous snow layer is generated andapplied in the structure under study. Simulation results for RCSmagnitudes show that FDTD results are very accurate.
