In this article, signal errors of two multispeedresolvers and the measurement error incurred due to the signalerrors are analyzed, and expressions for the errors aredetermined. Expressions for the position error due to amplitudeimbalance, quadrature error, inductive harmonics, referencephase shift, excitation signal distortion, and disturbance signalsare developed. From these expressions, bounds on the positionaccuracy achievable in practical resolver-based position sensingsystems are determined. The correctness of the analysis resultsand experiments are also verified. The measurement accuracy oftwo multispeed resolvers (32-pole and 4-pole) is calculated astwo appropriate case studies.
