Abstract:

A new microprocessor based fuzzy maximum power point tracker (MPPT) for photovoltaic applications under different thermal and insulation conditions is proposed. The photovoltaic system includes a solar panel, a fuzzy MPPT and a resistive load. A fuzzy controller is used to compute the optimal converter duty cycle under different operating conditions. Fuzzy controller input parameters are dP/dl and its variations (to improve accuracy) as well as the variation of converter duty cycle (to improve dynamic characteristics). Theoretical and experimental results are compared and analysed for different temperature and insulation. The proposed fuzzy tracker shows a better performance as compared to the usual PV systems with direct connections of solar panel and load.
