Abstract:

The conducting polymers like polypyrrole show variations of their conductivity and initial resistance upon interaction with humidity and VOCs gases [1]. In this paper, we prepared the polypyrrole conducting fiber (PPy-CF) with nanostructure layer by simple and straight forward in situ chemical polymerization of pyrrole on the surfaces of commercial polystyrene fiber. a simple, low temperature and cost effective solution method [2] to synthesize homogenous cupric oxide (CuO) nano-structured thin film on the polypyrrole fibers is used. By this method dense and continuous CuO film with good crystallinity can be prepared in a short time, e.g., in 15 min. The scanning electron microscopy illustrated that the synthesized CuO plate-like nanostructures have RMS thicknesses of 100 nm.
