Abstract:
In this paper we present an efficient wind power generation system that can be used for small scale such as houses and small villages. The system contains three different wind turbine desings for different particular area and locations. The conventional wind mill problems are explored with an objective to increase the efficiency of the design. The origami (pinwheel) type wind turbine is a new design for small scale use. It is very efficient and has high-torque. Further, it is very useful for the low wind corridors and it has maximam efficiency in low wind locations. The electronic circuitry has new design and which has minimum losses as compared to conventional techniques. the generator used in the project has increased number of poles to generate electricity at low RPM without any gear system. By doing this the mechanical losses in the gear system we have eliminated. A lengthy shaft is used between the turbine & the generator to avoid the direct load on generator assembly. Two different generators are used in the work, one is DC generator with low RPM and the second is 3-phase generator with low RPM.
