Abstract:
Anzali Wetland is one of the most important aquatic ecosystems in Iran which is located in southwest of the Caspian Sea. This study focus on measuring the content of heavy metals in tissues of tow common fish species in the Anzali wetland which usually catch daily and used by local habitants. For this purpose, species of wetland fishes include: Esox lucius, Cyprinus carpio, were selected and the content of heavy metals include: Cd, Cr and Pb were determined in muscle tissue of fishes (dry weight basis) using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results have showed that the average content of Pb (?g/g dry weight) was the most concentrated heavy metal in fish tissue whereas the Cd content tended to be the least concentrated at all. The overall ranking of heavy metals in muscle tissue of eating local fishes from Anzali wetland were assessed as follows: Cd < Cr < Pb. Also Total metal concentrations of Pb, Cr and Cd in water were 0.05 ±0.01, 0.05±0.02 and 0.04±0.01 mg/l respectively
