خلاصه مقاله:
English and Persian languages belong to the Indo-European languages family. There are somecommon words between these two languages, although, the number of these words is very smallin comparison with languages such as French and German. Correct pronunciation of commonwords has always been a challenging area for EFL students. The aim of this study is to estimatethe difficulties of Iranian EFL learners in pronouncing common words between English andPersian. In order to achieve this purpose, 20 intermediate male students who study English atBatar Language Institute were chosen. The researchers prepared a 20-word list, containing 10English words in Persian and 10 Persian words in English, for the participants, and asked thempronounce the words, and recorded their voices for analyzing. The results of the study indicatedthat the participants had more difficulties in pronouncing the Persian words.
