Abstract:

One of the sensible principles of sustainable architecture is daylight. It can have functions through having healthy qualifications adapted to human comfort beside energy efficiency. Daylight controlling system implementing makes indoors being lit by natural light and it will reduce building electrical usage. These systems even can change the thermal behavior of partitions and walls and other element of any space. Horizontal shading systems usually work as shadings in order to control reflections and reducing glare which could be existed through the architectural space. This article is examining basic parameters of these shadings designing like dimensions, proportions, orientation axis, location distances and their impacts on natural lighting according to visual comfort in administrative buildings in Tehran. In order to have this more functional the approach is to rely on parametric tools and daylight computational simulators which can provide adaptation to weather data in occupant hours. The results indicate that dimensions and orientations of shadings are very influential for light distribution and visual comfort.
