Abstract:

Iranian traditional architecture has been always much related to utopia Persian mythology and literature the main context of the most brilliant illustrations were mostly famous stories and poems. The architects did their best to demonstrate the scenes of narrated stories and make them visible. They usually observed the real objects around them and combined different elements which finally enabled them to resurrect an imaginary scene. For illustrating the imaginary creatures like demons, angels the architects needed not only a very creative imagination but a good knowledge of different allegorical concepts. The pioneers of the Persian literature have described utopia in the form of story in the prose and verse and have chosen animals instead of human characters and assigned humanly characteristics to the animals and its effect on architecture of Iran. On the other hand, the illustrators should demonstrate not a tangible and material world but the scenes which belong to a spiritual and immaterial one. Attendance of lotus in ancient Iran artistic works and architecture represents the beliefs and ideas of ancient Iranians. This article will explainthe impacts of Utopia in Persian literature and even Iranian religions on its architecture. It will analyze the Iranian architecture in the past and will show how the Iranian architecture was in harmony with Utopia Persian mythology and literature, as well as its ideology. This was a historical research, in which data collected from written sources was analyzed using a descriptive-analytic approach
