Abstract:
This paper provides a comparison of themaximum power point tracking (MPPT) controllers used forextracting maximum power from the wind energy conversionsystems (WECS) using permanent magnet synchronousgenerators (PMSG). These MPPT algorithms can be broadlycategorized into four main control methods, namely tip speedratio (TSR) control, power signal feedback (PSF) control, optimaltorque control (OTC) and Perturb and Observation (P&O).Conclusions about the pros and the cons of the different MPPTmethods are supported by analysis and simulation results basedon a 35kW wind turbine systems.
