Abstract:
Organizing the placement of nodes in wireless sensor networks is an important issue which can be either random or deterministic. To increase realability and robustness of the network, deterministic approach are more suitable in accessible area. proper node deployment pattern can increase coverage, connectivity, lifetime and error tolerability of the network.In this paper, the spiral curves models for node deployment is presented. The nodes deploy on an Archimedean and Logarithmic spiral curve. Results show our proposed Archimedean spiral model needs less sensor nodes than other models like triangular, square, hexagonal, nested spiral and logarithmic spiral. Also logarithmic Spiral requires fewer nodes than square and triangular models. Simulation results indicate that the Archimedean spiral consumes less energy than the hexagonal and logarithmic spiral therefore lifetime of the network with Archimedean spiral is more than two other models and hexagonal deployment has the most power consumption. The simulation results also show that the average delay of the network by these two spiral deployments are less than the hexagonal model.
