Abstract:
The increasing importance of energy resources in forming and growing of economic process and necessity of exploitation for these valuable recourses highlights identifying and studding effective factors on energy consumption. In this paper, the effects of technology improvement, oilprice, income and population (In urban and rural) have been studied on renewable energy consumption (the combination of hydroelectric, nuclear, geothermal and solar energy) and nonrenewable energy consumption (Energy mix of fossil fuels (such as coal, petroleum and natural gas)) in 21 selected member countries of OIC during 1999 – 2011. To estimate the variables effects we used econometric approach of panel data with Generalized Method of Moments GMM techniques. Results obtained from regression showed positive and significant effects of income, population of rural and urban regions, and also negative and significant effects of technology development and oil prices on the consumption of renewable and non-renewable energies was proved.
