Abstract:

Subsequently, a 10 bus system was utilized for investigating the dynamic voltage stability in order to determine system stability in a definite wind speed to examine feasibility of independently determination of the amount of compensating capacitor and changes in the simulation, using DIGSILENT. In the time domain simulations, all loads are constant so changes do not occur in the power system. However, in order to create a fault, a 0.25 Ω reactance is applied to bus 10 for 200 ms to make the system overspeed. The results show that although installing wind farms on weak networks decreases static voltage stability, installing them along with compensators, increases loading margin. Finally, different modes of compensation were evaluated and dynamic studies of the power system revealed that rapidly connecting the capacitor to the bus of wind turbine, which compared to other buses, may provide better stability of the wind farm. Moreover, an efficient reliable method was proposed for installing variable-speed wind turbines alongside fixed-speed wind turbines
