Abstract:
Currently, development of GIS is acquiring increasing importance in land use planning. The use of GIS opens up new possibilities for public participation, access to information, generation of alternative scenarios, and more accurate data analysis. Land use change models as a tool are used to show where, when and how land use changes could arise in the future, in order to adapt current land management public policy. The purpose of the current study was to have an analysis on strengths and weakness of simulating land use changes models as a modern technology in urban development focusing on developing countries. In fact, it will serve as a base for future studies of authors and provide the following insight for future researches. The structure of the study is as follows: first we define some of the main concepts like simulation, land use planning and land use change, second, and we critique this modern tools.
