In view widespread use of organotin and organosilicon compounds in agriculture , various industries, and in the case of organotin complexes,they can also be considered as potential candidates in medical research.Therefore,in this research work,the reaction of 1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-dithia octane (1) with Me2SnCl2, Ph3SnCl ,Bu2SnCl2 ,Me2SiCl2 or Me3SiCl in a molar ratio of 1:1,1:2 in different experimental conditions were carried out in CH2Cl2 and MeOH as a solvents. 1,8-Dihydroxy-3,6-dithia octane proton or protons have been removed and Sn-O , Si-O bonds were formed to yield [Me2Sn(C3H6OS)2] (2) [Ph3Sn(C3H6OS)]2 (3) , [Bu2Sn(C3H6OS)2] (4) , [SiMe3(C3H6OS)]2(5) and [SiMe2(C3H6OS)2](6). The new compounds were isolated and characterized by FT-IR , 1H , 13C ,119Sn 29SiNMR spectroscopic techniques.
