The present study reports the flow structure occurring during flow of oil (2.49 mPa.s viscosity and 830 kg/m3density) and water through a 11 mm horizontal acrylic pipe. We selected water and diesel fuel as working fluids and identified the nine flow patterns using high speed photography. The superficial Reynolds numbers ranged from about 350 to 3,700 for diesel and from about 1,300 to 13,700 for water. Over this range of conditions, a flow pattern map was constructed based on new observations.
