Abstract:

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a quickly developing ubiquitous technology enabling automatic object identification. RFID tags have numerous applications, ranging from supply chain optimization to e health. These smart and tiny devices have extremely constrained resources in terms of area, computational abilities, memory, and power. These restrictions make designing an assured tag more hard because in order to ameliorate a security, strong encryption algorithm should be implemented but there is no longer sufficient processing valence in RFID tags. Thus securing these devices need to have a concept called lightweight cryptography (a new branch of cryptography). In 2012 Zheng Gong et al. proposed a new lightweight block cipher named as Klein, which are suitable for these environments. In this paper, we describe the Klein block cipher and then simulate and synthesize this algorithm. Finally, we implement the Klein algorithm on a FPGA and express the results.
