Abstract:

Elicitation effect of AgNPs and triggering of defense system by production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as a signalingmolecule in regulation the activity of stress-related enzymes and production of Taxol was evaluated in suspension- culturedhazel cells (Corylus avellana L.). The cells in the logarithmic growth phase were treatment with 0, 2.5, 5, and 10 ppm AgNPs.The results showed that the activity of radical scavenging enzymes i.e., Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT),peroxidase (POX), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) were altered by treatment with AgNPs. Treatment with AgNPs alsodecreased the viability of the cells. The results showed that concentration of 5 ppm AgNPs was the best concentration forelicitation of hazel cells and the most production of Taxol, meanwhile reserving the highest viability of the cells. The resultssuggest that amount of H2O2produced by 5 ppm AgNPs was efficient to stimulate defense system through increase ofantioxidant enzymes activity.
