Abstract:

Worldwide, lung cancer is the most common cancer among men in terms of both incidence and mortality, and among women has the third highest incidence. Chemotherapy is still the treatment of choice for many types of cancer;but its effectiveness is hampered by dose limiting toxicity. Properly designed delivery systems can overcome thisshortcoming by reducing the non-specific distribution and toxicity of chemotherapeutics in healthy organs. curcumin isa multi-functional and pharmacologically safe natural agent. curcumin has been proven to effectively inhibit tumorgrowth by both targeting tumor cells and angiogenesis; however, poor water solubility limits further clinical application.Nano-liposomes have been studied as models of biological membranes and as carriers for the introduction of genes anddrugs into target cells; thus, Nano-liposomes have been successful as carriers of antitumor drugs in cancer chemotherapy. This study is a herbal drug curcumin loaded Pegylated Nano-liposome system for delivery to lung cancer cells.Preparation of Nano-liposomes by thin layer film hydration method with HEPES buffer and sonication at 25%, 40% and60 % Amplitude at 55◦C for 15min. Small uni-lamellar vesicles entrapping cucumin is prepared using DPPC: cholesterol:DSPE-mPEG2000 at 7:2.7:0.3 molar ratio.
