Abstract:

Incorporation of hydroxyapatite with organic polymer in favor of composites would be used in biomaterialengineering. According to previous investigates, due to its chemical similarity to natural bone and dental, this productcould improve bioactivity and bone bonding ability. Since, in this research hydroxyapatite/Chitosan/Silvernanocomposite (HAp/CTs/Ag) was prepared via chemically route. The surface and structural chemical characterizationon the nanocomposite was evaluated by Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Surfacetopography and morphology of the sample was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The XRD and FTIRdata specified the formation and presence of calcium hydrogen phosphate and Ag+ ions. The SEM micrograph of fracturesurface revealed the HAp and the Ag particles very well distributed within the uniform CTs matrix. It can be seen thatthe characterization results confirmed homogeneity interaction between the HAp, Ag and chitosan matrix.
