Abstract:

A novel method for synthesis of palladium nanocatalyst on Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles was introduced.For this purpose, the surface of magnetic nanoparticles was modified with two different precursors of silica whichproduced amine and vinyl functional groups on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. The palladium nanocatalysts wereformed on silica shell by direct contact of modified magnetic nanoparticles with palladium precursor without specialrequirement of any additional chemical reducer. The catalytic activity of supported palladium nanocatalysts wasinvestigated towards the degradation of some organic dyes (methyl red, methyl orange and methylene blue), selected astest dye species. The concentrations of dyes change exponentially with time and high rate constants were obtained forthe degradation of these dyes.
