Abstract:

A novel solid phase extraction method based on the adsorption of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide onto thesurface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was developed for the determination of ketoprofen in biological fluids. The method usesthe unique properties of magnetic nanoparticles (high surface area and strong magnetism) to avoid the time-consumingcolumn-passing processes of loading large volume samples in traditional SPE. A comprehensive study on the adsorptionconditions of the analyte such as, the amount of surfactant, pH value, desorption conditions, sample volume, and amountof Fe3O4 nanoparticles was presented. Under optimum conditions, ketoprofen was quantitatively determined and thelinear range of the method was 0.5-250 ng mL-1 with correlation coefficient of 0.9993. The LOD was 0.09 ng mL-1 andrelative standard deviations (RSD%) for 25 and 200 ng mL-1 were obtained 2.3 and 1.8% respectively. The proposedmethod was successfully applied for determination of ketoprofen in human plasma and urine samples.
