Abstract:

In this study, nanotitania was chemically modified using 2-Aminoethyl dihydrogen phosphate and employedfor La (III) and Ce (III) adsorption from aqueous solution.Adsorption equilibrium was established in 90 min and themaximum adsorption of ions was achieved at pH 6.0. The pseudo-first order and pseudo-second-order kinetic modelswere studied to analyze the kinetic data. The results showed that the kinetics of the adsorption process were well explainedby pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The equilibrium data correlated with Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) isotherm models. The Langmuir isotherm showed the best fit to the equilibrium data. Thecalculatedthermodynamic parametersat three different temperatures showed that the adsorption of La(III) and Ce(III)on aminofunctionalized nano titania is a spontaneous and endothermic process.
