Abstract:

BZSM‐5 zeolite membrane layers supported on macroporous and meso(nano) porous tubular alpha aluminasupports were prepared by hydrothermal method. Macroporous and meso(nano) porous tubular supports wereprepared using titanium dioxide‐bohemite and γ‐alumina intermediate layers, respectively. The morphological studiesconfirmed the formation of nanostructured intermediate layers by applying γ‐alumina layer. The influence ofnanostructured intermediate layers on the final zeolite membrane performance was evaluated by single gaspermeation. The H2/N2 ideal selectivity value for the B‐ZSM‐5 membrane prepared on nanostructured support was 1.25times higher than that for the other one. Increase of ideal selectivity can be attributed to surface modification ofsupport in nanometric scales and then formation of uniform zeolite membrane layer.
