Abstract:

In this study, different forms of graphite are examined in ablation process for graphene nanosheet production.Industrial Flexible Graphite was selected and ablated in different solvents by 4 different lasers in ambient temperature. For this purpose, this target was ablated by Q-switched neodymium: yttrium-aluminium-garnet laser (wavelength= 1064nm, frequency= 2 kHz and pulse duration= 240 ns, energy per pulse= 3.5 mJ) in a wide range of organic solvents andwater as the liquid medium. Then the ablation was done on this target in the selected mediums by Nd:YAG (wavelength=532 nm, frequency= 10 kHz, pulse duration= 60-70 nm, energy per pulse= 6 mJ ), Ho:YAG (wavelength= 2100 nm,frequency= 10-20 Hz, pulse duration= 1 ms and pulse energy= 100 mJ) and Cu Vapour Laser (wavelength= 510.5/578.5nm, frequency=10 kHz and pulse energy= 2.5 J). The products were examined using Electron Microscopies. Particles, sheets and formless phase were observed. The images showed that although different carbon structures were formed indifferent solvents, the main product was graphene nanosheets.
