The present study explores the ability of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles/hydrogel to remove Ni (II) fromaqueous media. At first, magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles/hydrogel was synthesized based on the simultaneousformation of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MION) and hydrogel based on poly (acrylic acid) grafted onto starch(PAA-g-starch). The morphological of the sample were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) andtransmission electron microscopy (TEM). The obtained MION-PAA-g-starch hydrogel was used for the removal of Ni(II)from aqueous solution. The effects of various parameters such as temperature, concentration, pH, and contact time wereexamined and optimal experimental conditions were determined.
